Just really interesting how celebrated Twitter and social media were praised during the Egypt and Tunisia revolutions and how now they’re the scapegoat in the London riots and the Chicago “flash robs” a few months ago. I also heard that BlackBerry’s BBM is being blamed – What the heck London? Who uses that? I guess it’s more private that Twitter. Whatevs.

I wonder if there’s going to be a proliferation in police use of the social media to counteract it. I mean, if the police knew what they were doing they would be able to stay just as on top of the mess as the other side, right?

Ok, blah blah, yeah I get it. Long term benefit of transparency and openness, taking power away from governments and leading to a more peaceful tomorrow… BUT seriously? Wikileaks for the Nobel Prize?

So Obama won the Nobel before actually doing anything, now WikiLeaks is nominated despite pissing off numerous governments and damaging international relations. Pulitzer Prize – definitely makes sense. Any number of other awards would be fine, but the Nobel Peace Prize would be hilarious.

Maybe it’s not that outlandish, but still… it’s funny.
